About this journey

British Columbia's coastline is one of the most varied and visually extraordinary in the world. This ten-day private journey moves slowly through three of its defining characters: Vancouver, with its mountain-backed harbour and world-class cultural life; Victoria, the perfectly preserved colonial capital of Vancouver Island with its gardens and waterfront; and Tofino, the remote Pacific Rim surf town that sits on the edge of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and feels like the end of the civilised world in the very best sense. The pacing is deliberate. This is not a journey that tries to cover distance — it is a journey that earns depth. Two nights in Vancouver allow genuine exploration without feeling rushed. Two nights in Victoria allow the city and its gardens to be seen properly. Three nights in Tofino — the longest stop — give the Pacific coastline the time it demands: one day for the broad sweep of Long Beach and Pacific Rim National Park, one day for wildlife and optional experiences such as whale watching or surfing, and one day simply to exist at the edge of the ocean at the pace that premium travel should always allow. Return to Vancouver for a final two nights before departure — a graceful conclusion to a journey that moves at the speed of the landscape rather than the speed of a schedule. Private transfers throughout, daily breakfast, and two hotel tiers — 4-star curated and 5-star signature — give every party the flexibility to shape the experience around their style.

Day-by-day itinerary

Your Pacific Coast & Wilderness Signature begins at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). A Globalduniya Canada representative meets you in arrivals, assists with luggage, and transfers you privately into the heart of the city. Vancouver's setting is immediately apparent — water, mountains, and a skyline that reveals itself gradually as you cross the bridges and move through the neighbourhoods toward the city centre. Check in to your hotel, take the evening at your own pace, and let the Pacific time zone settle in. Overnight: Vancouver.

A full day of private Vancouver exploration with a guide who knows the city well. The morning opens at Stanley Park — seawall walk, Prospect Point viewpoint, the forest paths between the totem poles, and English Bay on the western shore. The park is 405 hectares of old-growth forest surrounded on three sides by water; it rewards time. From Stanley Park, the day moves through Gastown's Victorian brick streetscapes, Canada Place on the harbour, and Granville Island — part covered market, part artist studios, wholly one of the most satisfying places to spend an hour in Canada. The afternoon is unhurried, with the waterfront and Kitsilano beach available for an evening walk. Overnight: Vancouver.

A private transfer to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal for the BC Ferries sailing to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island. The crossing takes 90 minutes across the Strait of Georgia and the Gulf Islands — the ferry journey itself is part of the experience, with the islands appearing and disappearing in the channel as the mainland falls behind. A private vehicle meets you at Swartz Bay for the 30-minute drive south to Victoria. The city reveals itself through James Bay and the Empress Hotel before opening into the Inner Harbour — one of the most graceful urban scenes in Canada. Check in and spend the afternoon at leisure along the harbour and the surrounding streets. Overnight: Victoria.

A full private day in Victoria, one of Canada's most rewarding smaller cities. The morning begins with Butchart Gardens — 55 acres of immaculate formal gardens in a former limestone quarry north of the city, a National Historic Site of Canada and one of the most visited and genuinely extraordinary horticultural destinations in North America. Allow two hours minimum. The afternoon returns to Victoria and the Inner Harbour precinct: the Parliament Buildings, the area around the Fairmont Empress, Beacon Hill Park with its peacocks and English Downs landscape, and the heritage architecture of James Bay. The harbour seaplane dock and the whale-watching vessels departing for the Strait complete the waterfront picture. Optional evening: a whale-watching tour from the Inner Harbour is available if booked in advance (grey whales April–June, humpbacks June–October). Overnight: Victoria.

After breakfast, a private vehicle departs Victoria for Tofino — the journey of approximately 3.5 to 4 hours crosses Vancouver Island from its populated eastern shore to its raw Pacific western coast. The road climbs through Cathedral Grove, where Douglas firs up to 800 years old and 75 metres tall arch over the highway — a forest that demands a stop. The transition from eastern to western Vancouver Island is one of the most dramatic landscape shifts in British Columbia. The road narrows, the vegetation changes, the ocean appears, and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve signs mark the beginning of a different Canada. Tofino sits at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, with Clayoquot Sound behind it and the open Pacific in front. Check in to your ocean-facing accommodation and walk to the beach before dinner. Overnight: Tofino.

The Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is Tofino's defining natural setting — Long Beach is its heart. At 16 kilometres of unbroken wild Pacific Ocean beach, it is the longest stretch of sandy beach accessible on the BC coast, flanked by rainforest and backed by the peaks of Strathcona Provincial Park. A private guide takes the day at coastal pace: a walk along Long Beach in the morning, the Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre on the headland, and the rainforest trail at Radar Hill with its panoramic view of the Pacific and the sound. The Kwisitis Visitor Centre tells the story of the Tla-o-qui-aht people whose territory this has been for thousands of years. The afternoon is for the coastline south of Tofino — Cox Bay, the most photogenic surf beach, and Chesterman Beach, the longest beach near the town itself and outstanding for an evening walk. Overnight: Tofino.

This day is deliberately protected for pace and choice. Tofino rewards those who give it time rather than a schedule. Recommended optional experiences (to be pre-booked through Globalduniya Canada): — Pacific whale watching by Zodiac or enclosed vessel: grey whales, humpbacks, orcas and Pacific white-sided dolphins are regularly sighted in the waters around Tofino, with the strongest season from March to October — Sea kayaking through Clayoquot Sound: guided half-day paddles through the sound's islands and inlets — Rainforest guided walk: old-growth cedar and Sitka spruce with a naturalist guide in Meares Island or Clayoquot Plateau — Learn-to-surf session: Tofino is Canada's surf capital; Cox Bay surf schools offer beginner sessions year-round For guests who prefer stillness: breakfast with the ocean, a morning walk, reading, or simply existing on the beach with a coffee is an equally valid way to spend Tofino's finest hours. Overnight: Tofino.

An early morning is recommended before the day's return transfer. The Pacific at dawn, before the surf school students arrive and before the tide decides which way it is going — is the quietest and most beautiful version of Tofino. A private vehicle departs for the crossing back to the eastern shore, with time for a stop at Cathedral Grove and lunch in Nanaimo or Parksville if desired. BC Ferries from Nanaimo Departure Bay or Duke Point brings the journey back across the Strait of Georgia to the mainland. A private transfer completes the return to Vancouver. Check in to your Vancouver hotel, where the city feels different after three days at the edge of the Pacific. Dinner in Yaletown, Gastown, or along the waterfront. Overnight: Vancouver.

A free day in Vancouver. The city is large enough to reward a full day of independent exploration, and your guide is available if you would prefer a structured programme. Suggestions for the day: the Museum of Anthropology at UBC for one of the world's great collections of First Nations Northwest Coast art; the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver for the most physical experience in the city region; Kitsilano Beach and 4th Avenue for coffee, browsing, and the view across to the mountains; or a morning paddle-board rental on False Creek. Alternatively: do nothing. Vancouver has exceptional restaurants — use the day to eat well, walk, and let the journey settle. Overnight: Vancouver.

Final breakfast at your hotel. A private transfer to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) for your onward departure. Pacific Coast & Wilderness Signature concludes.

Practical tips from your guide

  • 💡Tofino has no major grocery stores — arrive with snacks and essentials, or rely on the resort's dining options which are excellent
  • 💡The drive from Victoria to Tofino takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours — book the earliest possible BC Ferries sailing on Day 5
  • 💡Tofino's Long Beach is driveable from most accommodations — ask your guide to stop at Incinerator Rock for the classic surf view
  • 💡Wickaninnish Beach (Wya Point area) offers the most dramatic storm-watching vantage point in storm season
  • 💡Book Pacific Rim whale-watching tours at least 48 hours in advance in peak season
  • 💡Cox Bay is the surf beach; Chesterman Beach is the sunset and evening walk beach — both are unmissable
  • 💡The drive back from Tofino to Vancouver on Day 8 is long — plan an early start and a lunch stop in Parksville or Nanaimo

Yes — Tofino is increasingly a destination in its own right for international visitors who want a Pacific wilderness experience rather than a purely urban or mountain itinerary. It is accessible, beautifully serviced by its hotels and restaurants, and unlike anything else in Canada.

Yes. Additional nights in any city, upgraded hotel categories, whale-watching tours, sea kayaking, rainforest guided walks, or surfing lessons can all be incorporated. Tofino is particularly well suited to extensions given how much the coast rewards additional time.

The most popular season is June to September when Pacific coast weather is at its warmest and wildlife viewing is strongest. March to May offers whale watching and quieter beaches. October and November bring Tofino's celebrated storm-watching season — enormous Pacific swells and dramatic coastal conditions that many travellers prefer.

Yes — this journey is one of the most naturally suited in the Globalduniya Canada portfolio for couples and honeymooners. Tofino's ocean-facing properties, deliberately slow pacing, and the variety of coastal experiences from wildlife to beach walking to storm-watching make it an outstanding romantic destination in any season.
