  • 💡Kanha's barasingha (swamp deer) herds at the Sondar meadow are best seen at the morning safari
  • 💡Pack dust-proof zip cases for camera lenses — the jeep tracks generate significant fine clay dust

A genuine wilderness experience — no crowds, real jungle

Bandhavgarh's core zone at 6 am with mist over the valley and a tiger calling in the distance is an experience that stays with you. We saw tigers on four of our six game drives — an outstanding ratio. The lodges provided excellent food and the guides explained animal behaviour in real depth rather than just pointing and moving on. Kanha's landscape is different and equally beautiful — open meadows rather than Bandhavgarh's ridge and sal forest. Both parks rewarded patience and we were never rushed. Excellent value for the quality of experience.

Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director

Four tiger sightings from six drives in Bandhavgarh is a genuinely excellent result, David and Carol — the mist and the calling tigers at dawn are the kind of moments that explain why guests return year after year. Thank you for choosing Globalduniya for this journey.

Three tiger sightings in two days at Bandhavgarh — extraordinary

We had dreamed of seeing a tiger in the wild for thirty years and Globalduniya delivered beyond anything we imagined. Bandhavgarh produced three separate sightings in two days — including a tigress with her two cubs crossing the track directly in front of our jeep at dawn. Our naturalist guide Vikram's knowledge of individual tiger territories made all the difference. Kanha was equally rewarding for its hard-ground barasingha deer and leopard. The jeep was ours alone for all six drives, which meant we could wait as long as needed at sightings. Accommodation at Singinawa Jungle Lodge in Kanha and Kings Lodge in Bandhavgarh was superb — excellent food after long days in the jungle.

Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director

Three tiger sightings including a mother with cubs — that is precisely the Bandhavgarh experience we work to deliver for every guest. Vikram has studied the Bandhavgarh territories for twelve years and his ability to read animal movement is exceptional. Thank you for sharing this with us, Robert and Jane.

First solo wildlife trip — felt completely safe and wonderfully supported

I was nervous about travelling solo to central India but Globalduniya looked after every single detail. Transfers were punctual, all lodges had been briefed on my dietary needs, and my local guide Arvind accompanied me through every step. The wildlife exceeded my expectations — five tiger sightings across Kanha and Bandhavgarh, along with wild dogs (dholes), a sloth bear with cubs, and more species of bird than I could count. The standard of the lodges was genuinely high — not glamping but proper wilderness luxury with excellent food. I would return for Pench next time.

Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director

Solo travel in central India is something we take very seriously, Amanda — every briefing, every transfer handover and every lodge pre-arrival check is personalised. We are delighted Arvind delivered the support and expertise you deserved. Five tiger sightings is a wonderful result.

Kanha's meadows and Bandhavgarh's ridges — two parks, one unforgettable journey

We have done safaris in Africa but central India offers something completely different — smaller vehicles, fewer tourists per zone, and a more intimate experience. The biodiversity is astonishing: in five days we photographed tigers, leopards, wild dogs, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, Indian rollers and multiple raptor species. Our guide at Kanha was particularly strong on birds, which was a bonus for my wife who photographs wildlife. Transfer between parks by road was comfortable and our driver Suresh was excellent company. Globalduniya's organisation throughout was flawless.

Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director

Thank you Thomas and Lisa — the comparison with Africa is one we hear often, and central India's low jeep numbers per zone is genuinely a different quality of experience. Suresh covers the Kanha–Bandhavgarh transfer regularly and knows every stop worth making along the way.

Every Indian should do this — our own wildlife in all its glory

As an Indian living in London, I had seen Indian wildlife only in documentaries. This trip changed everything. The density of wildlife in these reserves — particularly Bandhavgarh — is breathtaking. Our naturalist Rajesh spent two hours explaining the history of a particular tigress's territory and her lineage going back three generations of tigers. The depth of knowledge was remarkable. The lodges were excellent and the food — particularly at Kanha — was some of the best thali I have had anywhere. A trip every India-lover should prioritise.

Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director

What a beautiful perspective, Priya — the pride of showing Indian wildlife to those returning to see it for the first time is something our guides share deeply. Rajesh's knowledge of individual tiger histories is extraordinary. Thank you for this review.

Good, but could improve coordination

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve was absolutely impressive—we saw two tigers during our morning safari near the Ghorademon area! Kanha’s landscape was equally fascinating, but logistical hiccups dampened our experience. The transfer between lodges felt rushed, and we missed part of our planned activities in Kanha. However, staff at the Kanha Earth Lodge were polite, and the food was outstanding. With better coordination, this could have been perfect.

Response from Globalduniya · Priya Nair · Regional Operations Manager

Dear James, we appreciate your candid feedback and are delighted you enjoyed the tiger sightings and hospitality at Kanha Earth Lodge. We deeply regret the logistical issues and are reviewing our processes to ensure a smoother experience in the future. We hope you revisit for an improved experience.

About India

For serious wildlife enthusiasts: Khajuraho's UNESCO-listed erotic temples, then deep into the sal-forest reserves of Bandhavgarh or Kanha — home to one of the world's highest densities of Bengal tigers. Multiple game drives, naturalist-led safari jeeps, and lodge accommodation at the forest edge. Off the tourist trail and absolutely memorable.

Region: Central India, India.

October to June is open season; parks close during monsoon (July–September). February to April offers the best tiger visibility when vegetation dries and animals gather at water sources.

Questions about this package

Bandhavgarh has the highest tiger density per square kilometre of any Indian park — roughly 1 tiger per 4 sq km in Zone 1. Kanha has more total tigers but a larger area. For first-time wildlife travellers, Bandhavgarh Zone 1 (Tala) gives the best odds. We allocate based on the latest zone data.

This 8-night circuit includes 6 safaris: 3 at Bandhavgarh (or Kanha North) and 3 at the second park. Each safari is 3.5 hours in an open Gypsy jeep. Morning safaris are always included; the second daily safari (late afternoon) is included on 2 of the 3 days at each park.

Both Bandhavgarh and Kanha host leopard, sloth bear, gaur (Indian bison), sambar and spotted deer, wild dog (dhole), and over 250 species of birds including lesser adjutant and crested serpent eagle. Even on a tiger-free safari, sightings are extraordinary.
