Departure
Day-by-day itinerary
Your arrival in India is not managed like a tourist transfer. Your driver and concierge representative meet you at the arrivals hall, take your luggage, and escort you through the city to your hotel. The briefing en route is personal: your itinerary, your guide for the next morning, any dietary preferences to pass to the kitchen. The first evening is yours. Walk out if you want to — or stay in and let Delhi come to you.
Old Delhi is the India many OCI families trace their roots to, or heard described in family kitchens. Your guide takes you through Chandni Chowk and Jama Masjid — not as monuments, but as living places. The gullies, the trades, the conversations. Afternoon: Humayun's Tomb, where the Mughal dynasty lies buried. Evening briefing with your guide about the ancestral visit component of your journey — what your family is connected to, and how to approach it.
The drive to Agra in your private vehicle. The Taj Mahal is many things — a monument, a declaration, an architectural pinnacle — but for families returning to India, it carries something else: the feeling that this civilisation is yours. Your guide moves through the site without rushing. Agra Fort in the afternoon: the red sandstone fortress that housed emperors and later became a prison for one of them. Evening in Agra.
Sunrise at the Taj again, if you wish — or a quieter morning in the Mehman Bagh gardens across the river, with a view and no crowds. Then Fatehpur Sikri: Akbar's abandoned capital, built in red sandstone, haunting and grand. Return to Agra. Road to Jaipur in the afternoon.
Jaipur's City Palace is still partially home to the Mewar royal family. Your guide takes you through the public wings with context: the courtly traditions, the weapons, the textiles, the history of Jaipur's founding by Jai Singh II in 1727. Hawa Mahal from the street. Jantar Mantar — the observatory that reads the sky in stone. Evening in a heritage restaurant in the old city.
Amber Fort at first light: the lake below, the ramparts, the Sheesh Mahal interior. Your guide explains the Kachhwaha Rajput clan, their alliance with the Mughals, and what this fort represented strategically and culturally. Afternoon: a block-printing workshop or a visit to the gem-cutting quarter, where Jaipur's lapidaries have been working for centuries. Evening at leisure.
This day is shaped around your family's specific geography — the town, city, or region your family came from. This could mean a visit to a specific city, a village, a district, a gurudwara, a temple, or a family property. Your concierge team researches the logistics in advance. This day is not a tourist experience. It is personal, prepared, and hosted with sensitivity. Whatever the visit holds — reunion, pilgrimage, memory, or simply arrival — it is handled with care.
If the ancestral visit requires a second day — for family meetings, local travel, additional sites, or simply more time — this day is reserved for that. If the visit is complete, your private vehicle or flight carries you toward Varanasi. Routes and timing confirmed at booking.
Varanasi at sunset is a confrontation with time. Your hotel is near the river. The evening begins at Dashashwamedh Ghat for the Ganga Aarti — one of the most ritually dense and visually extraordinary daily ceremonies on earth. Seven priests, fire, bells, incense, and hundreds of pilgrims gathered at the Ganges in the last light. Your guide explains what you are watching without diminishing it.
The private boat goes out before sunrise. The ghats emerge slowly from the dark — lanterns on the water, silhouettes at prayer, the cremation fires at Manikarnika. Your guide is quiet unless you ask. This is not an explanation hour — it is a witnessing hour. Late morning: the old city lanes. The silk weavers, the temples, the sweet shops that have been there for a century. Afternoon rest. Optional evening classical music performance.
Sarnath, 13 km from Varanasi, is where the Buddha gave his first teaching after enlightenment. The Dhamek Stupa, the Sarnath Museum, the Lion Capital — one of the finest collections of Buddhist art in India. Even for non-Buddhist travellers, Sarnath is one of those places that explains how much of human civilisation grew from this one valley of the Ganges.
Return to Delhi by flight or road. Depending on your departure schedule, an optional afternoon visit to Qutb Minar (the world's tallest brick minaret) or the National Museum. If your family has roots in Delhi itself, additional visits can be arranged. Briefing for departure logistics from your concierge.
A final morning at your own pace. Breakfast at the hotel. Your concierge confirms departure timings, handles check-out, and escorts you to the vehicle. A calm, hosted farewell from India.
Private vehicle to IGI Terminal 3. Your concierge accompanies you to the departure level if needed. Check-in assistance provided. The last few hours of your India journey are handled with the same attention that welcomed you on day one.
