Practical tips from your guide
- 💡Book the sunrise Taj Mahal visit AND the later Varanasi boat ride on separate days — the itinerary is designed so neither feels rushed
- 💡Carry a small personal pharmacy: antacids, rehydration salts, and a broad-spectrum antibiotic recommended by your GP before departure
- 💡Varanasi's old city lanes (galis) are too narrow for tuk-tuks — your guide will walk the last 500 m to the ghats with you
- 💡Fatehpur Sikri visits are best done before 10 am; it is open and exposed with little shade
- 💡The train from Agra to Varanasi (Shatabdi) is comfortable and scenic — ask us to include it instead of a flight for a different perspective

My first India trip and I chose wisely — this is the definitive route
First-time India visitors are often told to start with the Golden Triangle. Adding Varanasi turned a good trip into a transformative one. Varanasi's Sarnath — the deer park where the Buddha gave his first sermon — was an unexpectedly moving visit and added a Buddhist dimension I had not anticipated. Our guide had detailed knowledge of both Hindu and Buddhist traditions and answered every question with patience and depth. The hotels throughout were well-chosen and my room at the Varanasi heritage property overlooked the Ganges. The sunrise from that room was extraordinary.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Nadia, Sarnath's inclusion in the Varanasi section is something we always recommend — the deer park adds a profound layer to the city's already extraordinary spiritual history. The Ganges-view room at dawn is a moment we try to guarantee for every guest staying on the ghats. Thank you.

The Taj and the Ganges — India's two most powerful icons in one journey
The Taj Mahal represents India's Mughal perfection — the controlled, geometric, breathtakingly beautiful. Varanasi represents India's ancient, chaotic, profoundly alive spiritual core. To experience both in the same ten days is to begin to understand the country's extraordinary range. Globalduniya paced the journey thoughtfully — the two Varanasi nights after the more tourist-oriented Triangle cities felt like a natural and necessary deepening. My guide in Varanasi, Hari, was one of the most intellectually engaging guides I have encountered anywhere in India or elsewhere.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Louise, this observation — the Mughal perfection against the ancient living city — is the philosophical heart of this itinerary. Hari approaches guiding in Varanasi as a conversation rather than a lecture and we are so pleased that approach resonated. Thank you.

Varanasi changed my understanding of life and death
We added Varanasi to our Golden Triangle itinerary on the recommendation of our Globalduniya consultant and it was the single best travel decision we have ever made. The Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — 108 priests in synchronised ritual as the sun descends behind the ghats — is the most powerful ceremony I have witnessed anywhere in the world. The pre-dawn boat ride revealed life on the ghats in all its raw, beautiful complexity. The Golden Triangle cities were excellent, as expected. But Varanasi transformed this from a sightseeing trip into a genuine journey. Our guide Suresh in Varanasi was exceptional — thoughtful, philosophical and deeply knowledgeable.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Richard and Helen, the Varanasi recommendation is one we make carefully because it is an intense and confronting city. When guests are open to that intensity, it invariably becomes the defining memory of the journey. Suresh's reflective approach to guiding in Varanasi is exactly what the city demands. Thank you for this review.

A complete India experience — from Mughal grandeur to ancient Hindu ritual
The sequence of this itinerary is well-designed: Delhi's urban energy and monuments, Agra's Mughal masterpiece, Jaipur's royal Rajput heritage, and finally Varanasi's timeless spiritual intensity. Each city requires a different mindset and our guides shifted their approach accordingly. The Ganga Aarti by boat — watching the ceremony from the river rather than the crowded ghat edge — was a highlight we will describe to grandchildren. Globalduniya's local knowledge in booking the river position for the Aarti was alone worth the premium over booking independently.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Charlotte and Peter, the river-position booking for the Ganga Aarti is one of those details that separates a guided experience from independent travel in Varanasi. The ceremony reads very differently from the water. Thank you for this thoughtful review.

Adding Varanasi was non-negotiable after this experience
We nearly did just the Golden Triangle. After speaking with Globalduniya's team, we agreed to add Varanasi and extend by two nights. The extra two nights were the two most memorable of our lives as travellers. The burning ghats are confronting and unforgettable. The morning boat ride on the Ganges as the city comes to life at 5 am — bathers, priests, flowers, chanting — is a scene of overwhelming beauty and humanity. The Golden Triangle hotels and guides were all excellent. But Varanasi was the journey's soul.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Marcus and Amanda, we hear this consistently — guests who initially hesitate about Varanasi almost always describe it as the highlight. The pre-dawn boat position we secure on the Ganges is something our Varanasi team handles with great care. Thank you for trusting our recommendation.

A Perfect Blend of Luxury and Culture
Every stop on this tour had something magical to offer. Delhi’s Red Fort was a great start to the trip, and Jaipur’s Jal Mahal was as picturesque as advertised. The Taj Mahal at sunset was a dream! The absolute highlight, however, was Varanasi—the sunrise boat ride and witnessing life unfold around the ghats were unforgettable moments. The accommodations at Radisson Blu in Agra and Brijrama Palace in Varanasi offered exceptional comfort. Everything was well-coordinated and stress-free.
Response from Globalduniya · Priya Nair · Regional Operations Manager
Dear Anna, thank you for your glowing review! We are so happy to hear you cherished every moment, from Delhi to Varanasi. Your compliments about our accommodations and organization mean a lot to us. We hope to host you again soon for another seamless experience in India!
