Udaipur is the most beautiful city I have ever visited

That is a bold statement but Udaipur earned it. The lake, the ghats, the City Palace, the surrounding Aravalli Hills — it is absurdly beautiful. Our guide arranged a private boat on Lake Pichola at dusk which was genuinely one of the best hours of my life. Taj Lake Palace for two nights was a dream.

Response from Globalduniya

The private Lake Pichola boat at dusk is a touch we love arranging — no two sunsets are the same. Catherine, your Udaipur superlative is completely earned. Thank you for sharing it so generously.

Jaisalmer fort at night — magical

Staying within the Jaisalmer fort walls is something we had always wanted to do. Our guide arranged access to the private sections of the fort at dusk, before the tourists left, and it was extraordinary — the golden sandstone glowing in the last light. Suryagarh outside the walls was wonderful too.

Response from Globalduniya

The Jaisalmer fort at dusk with that golden sandstone light is one of the great India moments and your guide timed it perfectly. Suryagarh is always a lovely place to return to after the fort. Thank you, John and Frances.

Jodhpur's Blue City lanes were a complete surprise

We knew Jaipur and Udaipur would be stunning but Jodhpur's old city surprised us most. Walking the narrow lanes below Mehrangarh Fort with our guide, the indigo-painted walls at every turn, the spice sellers and the sound of temple bells — it felt completely authentic. RAAS Jodhpur has perfect fort views.

Response from Globalduniya

Jodhpur's Blue City lanes are our hidden favourite on this route — glad it took you by surprise. RAAS was designed with those fort views in mind and the terrace is perfect for sundowners. Thank you, Lena and Klaus.

Jodhpur fort blew us away more than the Taj

Controversial opinion but Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur is more impressive than the Taj. The sheer scale, the carved jali windows, the view over the blue city from the bastions. Our guide Arjun spent three hours there and we could have stayed all day. Hotel Nachana Haveli was a perfect boutique base.

Response from Globalduniya

Arjun would be delighted — and quietly agrees with you. Mehrangarh is often underrated against the Taj's fame and it deserves every hour. Hotel Nachana Haveli's rooftop with that fort view is something. Thank you, Thomas and Sarah.

A journey we will talk about for the rest of our lives

We are in our sixties and this was the big trip we promised ourselves. Every detail Globalduniya organised was exactly right — the hotels were extraordinary, the guide was a genuine expert, and the Rajasthan landscape is unlike anything else on earth. The camel cart through Jaisalmer's old city was a delight.

Response from Globalduniya

Being trusted with the big trip you promised yourselves is something we feel the weight of — and this review tells us we carried it well. The camel cart through Jaisalmer's alleys is one of those joyful details. Thank you, William and Helen.

Rajasthan is a photographer's paradise — we shot 4,000 photos

Fourteen days through Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur and every single day produced a handful of hero shots. The Taj Lake Palace at sunset from the Udaipur ghats was the image of the trip. Our guide Deepak knew exactly when and where to position us for the light. Rambagh Palace in Jaipur set the tone magnificently.

Response from Globalduniya

Deepak and light — inseparable. Your 4,000 photos will be a treasure and the Taj Lake Palace at sunset from the ghats is one of those images that gets better every time you look at it. Thank you, Edward and Diana.

About India

▾

Region: Rajasthan, India.

Best time to visit: October to March.

October to February is perfect: cool, dry, and festive. March–April is warm but still very pleasant. Monsoon (July–September) brings dramatic skies over the forts.

Questions about this package

Pushkar is included in the itinerary but the camel fair dates (November, lunar calendar) do not align with every departure. If your travel dates coincide, we incorporate the fair visit. If not, Pushkar's ghats and Brahma Temple are included instead.

Udaipur receives 3 nights (most of any city), followed by Jodhpur with 2 nights. Jaipur, Pushkar, and Delhi each have 1–2 nights. We pace the itinerary so no day has more than one major monument visit — this is deliberate to avoid heritage fatigue.

No — Ranakpur (UNESCO) falls directly on the road between Jodhpur and Udaipur. We stop for a 2.5-hour visit en route, making it a natural inclusion rather than a detour. The Jain marble pillars here are arguably more intricate than Dilwara Temple on Mount Abu.
