Practical tips from your guide
- 💡This combination is best done in the sequence Vancouver → Rockies, ending in Calgary for the flight home — avoids doubling back
- 💡The Icefields Parkway 5-hour drive has 20+ pull-offs worth stopping at — allow the full day, do not rush
- 💡Yoho's Natural Bridge and Emerald Lake are 15 minutes off the main highway — always worth the detour
- 💡Stanley Park seawall in Vancouver: rent an e-bike rather than a pedal bike — 9 km of it with hills
- 💡Calgary Airport has the best poutine in western Canada — seriously, try it on departure

About Canada
▾
Top-selling scenic Canada route through Vancouver and the Rockies.
Region: North America, Canada.
Best time to visit: June, July, August, September.
June to September is ideal for this combined route. October adds spectacular fall colour in the Rockies but some Icefields Parkway stops may be snowed in.
Questions about this package
We recommend starting in Vancouver and ending in Calgary (flying home from Calgary Airport). This way you drive the Icefields Parkway from Banff northward to Jasper — the most dramatic direction for the views — and then fly home from Jasper or Calgary. We can arrange the itinerary in either direction on request.
Most guests fly Vancouver to Calgary (1 hour 10 minutes) and then drive to Banff (1.5 hours). The Vancouver–Banff drive is 900 km and 9 hours through the Trans-Canada — scenic but very long. The flight option is standard on this package. The Rocky Mountaineer train is an upgrade alternative (2 days, Vancouver to Banff).
The standard allocation is 4 nights in the Rockies (2 in Banff, 2 in Jasper or Lake Louise) and 3 nights in Vancouver. This can be adjusted — many guests prefer 5 nights in the Rockies and 2 in Vancouver if the mountain experience is the priority.
