Practical tips from your guide
- 💡Acclimatise in Rishikesh for a full day before heading higher — altitude sickness is avoidable with a slow ascent
- 💡The road from Rishikesh to Haridwar takes 45 minutes but the Ganga Aarti timings vary by season — confirm with your guide on arrival
- 💡Mussoorie's Mall Road is pleasant in the early morning before tourist crowds arrive around 10 am
- 💡Carry warm layers even in October — temperatures at Landour (above Mussoorie) drop sharply after sunset
- 💡Attend one live kirtan session in Rishikesh — the ISKCON ashram near Ram Jhula holds them daily and visitors are welcome

Coming home to India's sacred rivers — deeply moving
As a person of Indian origin who has never been to the Himalayan foothills, this journey felt like a homecoming. Haridwar's ghats at dusk, Rishikesh's Lakshman Jhula at sunrise, Mussoorie's ridge walk with Himalayan views — each was more beautiful than the last. Our guide Prashant was deeply knowledgeable about Vaishnav and Shaivite traditions and answered every question with scholarship and warmth. A journey I will recommend to every Indian in the diaspora who wants to reconnect with the subcontinent's spiritual geography.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Kavita, thank you — the connection between diaspora guests and India's sacred landscape is something we experience regularly on this route and it is invariably deeply personal. Prashant's understanding of both the textual traditions and the living practice makes his guiding exceptional.

Yoga and mountains — this trip transformed me
I went to Rishikesh for the yoga and came back transformed by the whole experience. The early morning yoga on the banks of the Ganges, with the Himalayan foothills rising behind the river and the smell of incense from the ashrams — this is the India I had imagined but had not believed possible. Our yoga teacher Ananda's morning sessions were exceptional. The Haridwar Aarti was a profound addition and Mussoorie's mountain air was a welcome cool contrast after the Gangetic plains heat. Globalduniya handled every connection and the handovers were seamless.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Natalia, Ananda leads our Rishikesh morning sessions with a depth of practice that comes from decades of study — we are glad his sessions resonated so deeply. The combination of yoga, the Ganges Aarti and mountain air is exactly what this route is designed to deliver.

Rishikesh, Haridwar and Mussoorie — a spiritual and scenic masterpiece
We deliberately sought an India itinerary that avoided the standard monuments circuit and Globalduniya designed this Himalayan foothills journey for us. Haridwar's Har Ki Pauri ghat at the evening Aarti — the Ganges flowing fast over the steps as the bells ring across the water — is one of the most intensely spiritual experiences of our travelling lives. Rishikesh's yoga ashrams and the suspension bridges over the Ganges are beautiful. Mussoorie provided the Himalayan panorama we had hoped for — clear November skies and snow on the distant peaks. Our mountain guide Bijay was excellent throughout.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Alexander and Harriet, Haridwar's Har Ki Pauri Aarti is one of India's great ritual spectacles and the fast-flowing Ganges gives it a kinetic energy that the Varanasi ceremony does not have. We are delighted this route delivered the deeper India experience you were looking for. Thank you.

The Ganga Aarti at Haridwar is worth the flight from New York alone
I had been to Varanasi before and thought I understood the Ganga Aarti. Haridwar's version at Har Ki Pauri is different — the current is faster, the ghats are more compact, and the whole ceremony has a concentrated intensity. Standing waist-deep in the Ganges alongside thousands of pilgrims as the lamps pass overhead is an experience I will carry for the rest of my life. Rishikesh's yoga and meditation scene is the real thing. Mussoorie was a beautiful mountain cap to the journey. Globalduniya's planning was thorough and the local guides were excellent.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
James, the Haridwar Aarti in the current — not from the steps but from the river itself — is an experience our team specifically facilitates for guests who want the complete immersion. We are glad it delivered the depth you were looking for. Thank you for this extraordinary description.

The foothills surprised us — this is India's quieter, more reflective side
We have done North India's heritage circuit twice. This Himalayan foothills itinerary was recommended by Globalduniya as something completely different, and they were right. Rishikesh is a town of genuine spiritual practice — the ashrams along the Ganges are not tourist shows. Haridwar's Kumbh Mela base ghats have a historic gravity that you feel even outside the great gathering. The drive up to Mussoorie through the Doon Valley was beautiful and our guesthouse had a clear view of the Himalayan range. A very different India experience that rewards curiosity.
Response from Globalduniya · Rohan Verma · India Operations Director
Thank you William and Claire — the description of Rishikesh as genuine rather than performative is exactly right. The spiritual community there predates tourism by centuries and that authenticity is palpable. We are glad the route delivered the contrast you were looking for.

Memorable experiences but could improve logistics
This was a memorable experience blending spirituality and adventure. Highlights were the evening prayers on the Ganges in Haridwar and the scenic yoga setup in Rishikesh. While the rafting was fun, I wish we’d had more time for exploring Rishikesh’s temples. Corbett brought us close to nature, with sightings of elephants and exotic birds. Transfers between some locations were longer than expected, though the guide kept us entertained. Overall, it was worth the journey.
Response from Globalduniya · Priya Nair · Regional Operations Manager
Thank you, Oliver, for your thoughtful feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the spiritual and adventurous elements of the trip. Your concerns about logistics have been noted, and we’ll strive to optimize travel times in the future. We look forward to the chance of hosting you again!
