Practical tips from your guide
- 💡Request the 1-bedroom A/C houseboat rather than the larger party boats — more stable, quieter, and better food
- 💡The cook on a premium houseboat will prepare a full Kerala Sadhya feast if asked the day before departure
- 💡Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is best visited at 6 am by country boat — the bird watcher's route is through the reed beds
- 💡Alappuzha's Sunday Market is one of Kerala's last traditional boat-access-only markets — a genuinely rare experience
- 💡Avoid the main tourist houseboat lane (NH 66 canal) — ask specifically for the village backwater routes

Kerala Backwaters mein houseboat cruise — romantic aur peaceful dono
Thekkady mein spice garden aur elephant darshan ke baad Alleppey backwaters mein houseboat — do bilkul alag lekin equally amazing experiences. Captain ne houseboat ko ek quiet canal mein rok diya raat mein jaahan kaafi tare the aur farther koi nahi tha. That private moment was priceless.
Response from Globalduniya · Priya Nair · Regional Operations Manager
Priya aur Sudhir, captain ka woh quiet canal mein ruk jaana aur khuli raat — yahi toh houseboat crew ki asli service hai. Thekkady se Alleppey ka contrast bhi bahut sunder combination hai. Shukriya!

Kerala Backwater Cruise — ek alag hi duniya mein pohunch gaye
Houseboat pe teen raat — aisa laga jaise baaki sab kuch exist hi nahi karta. Backwaters ki khamoshi aur hariyal ne mann ko bilkul saaf kar diya. Cook ne fresh fish aur coconut curry banai jo life ka best food tha. Kochi mein Chinese fishing nets ka sunset view bhi amazing tha.

About India
▾
Region: Kerala, India.
Best time to visit: September, October, November, December, January, February, March.
October to February is ideal. Monsoon backwaters (June–August) are beautiful and cheaper, but canal water levels are high and the southern canals may be impassable.
Questions about this package
Yes. Kerala Backwater Bliss includes 2 consecutive nights on a premium houseboat — our most generous backwater allocation. The first afternoon is a village canal exploration; the first evening is anchored at a quiet mooring with a cook's dinner on deck. The second day takes a different canal route.
The main backwater tourist lane runs along NH 66 canal — wide, busy, with dozens of houseboats. Our houseboats are given captain instructions to use the narrow village canals (kuttunaad, kainakari, champakkulam) where you pass within metres of village life, paddy fields, and Chinese fishing nets. Completely different experience.
Yes. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary on the eastern shore of Vembanad Lake is accessible by country boat (30 minutes) from most houseboat moorings. We arrange the early morning bird-watcher's canoe at 6 am — herons, cormorants, darters, kingfishers, and migratory birds October–March. Entry fee is ₹100.
Frequently asked questions
We recommend booking at least 3–4 months in advance for peak season travel (October–March). For off-peak travel, 6–8 weeks is generally sufficient. Bespoke itineraries need a minimum 8 weeks for full confirmation.
