The helicopter from Katra to Sanjichhat replaces the steepest 12 km of the uphill trek, leaving only a 4 km walk from Sanjichhat to Bhawan. The downward trek from Bhawan to Katra is 14 km and must be done on foot (or by battery car on the concrete track). Total walking with helicopter: approximately 4 km up + 2 km down. Without helicopter: 14 km up + 14 km down.

The shrine is open 24 hours. Crowd levels are lowest between 2 am and 5 am, making the overnight ascent the most tranquil darshan experience. Day queues (9 am–3 pm) average 2–4 hours depending on the season. We recommend the pre-dawn arrival strategy for all our guests.

Yes. Yatra registration is mandatory for all pilgrims — Indian and international. It is free and done online through the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board portal. We complete this registration on your behalf as part of our service. Your yatra slip is required at the Katra base checkpoint before the trek begins.
