India travel planning for US-based travellers

How many days should a US traveller allow for a first India trip?

We recommend at least 10–12 nights for a first India trip from the US — enough to cover the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) properly without rushing. 12–14 nights allows for Rajasthan or a south India extension. The long-haul flight (typically 14–17 hours total travel time, including connections) means the first full day in India is best kept gentle.

Which India gateway is best for travellers from the USA?

Delhi (IGI) is the natural entry point for north India programmes — the Taj Mahal, Rajasthan, and Varanasi. Mumbai (CSIA) is better for central India or south India trips. For circuits covering both north and south, we typically arrange open-jaw itineraries — fly into Delhi, depart from Mumbai (or reverse), so you travel in one direction.

What is the time-zone adjustment like from the US?

India is 9.5 to 12.5 hours ahead of US time zones (EST to PST). Most travellers experience 2–4 days of adjustment. We build the first day or two lightly — a hotel with same-day check-in, a gentle walk, and an early dinner — to help you acclimatise before intensive sightseeing begins.

How are prices presented for US-based travellers?

Our packages are priced in Indian Rupees (INR) — the currency in which India travel operates. We provide USD estimates based on current exchange rates. We do not guarantee USD prices against INR fluctuations, but the INR price is fixed and the conversion estimate is clearly marked.

Are private India tours suitable for American families?

Yes. Family travel from the US is one of our most common enquiry categories. Private vehicles give you flexibility at all times, and guides adjust their approach for children of different ages. For Indian-American families combining sightseeing with an ancestral visit, our NRI India Holidays pillar is the appropriate route.

How can travellers in the US get planning support?

We provide India travel planning support for US-based travellers across all time zones — from New York and Boston on the East Coast to Los Angeles and San Francisco on the West Coast. Enquiries are handled by the same team that manages all Globalduniya India travel planning. You can reach us by WhatsApp, email, or phone.
